SALES

Our primary aim is to maximise the net financial return for the selling client. A number of factors, not least the requirements of the vendor, will determine if this is best achieved through:

  • Auction
  • Private sale
  • Direct to an institution
  • Consignment with a dealer

Our fees, in many cases, are more than offset by the savings we are able to negotiate. Clients are only ever charged a commission by Watson Westmorland, even when selling at auction. We evaluate all the options available, discuss these with our client and implement an agreed strategy. Our office manages all administration and paperwork associated with the sales process.

A Chinese famille rose vase discovered in a client’s house. It was initially valued by a leading auction house for £30,000. After arranging for it to be viewed in the Far East the vase was eventually sold in London at a different auction house, by Watson Westmorland on behalf of the owner, for £300,000.
